how change ports

The mcp server starts on port 6402 even after reinstalling Unity, perhaps because of other mcp servers installed. Port 6400 is free now. But it still goes to port 6402. How can I fix this?

What to do

• Quick reset (no code changes)
  • Delete the saved port file(s) for this project, then restart Unity (or click Auto-Connect). It will try 6400 first and save it.
  • Terminal (macOS):

    rm -f ~/.unity-mcp/unity-mcp-port-*.json ~/.unity-mcp/unity-mcp-port.json

    If you prefer only this project, you can remove just this project’s hashed file; list them with:

    ls -l ~/.unity-mcp | grep unity-mcp-port-

    The matching status file unity-mcp-status-*.json shows project_path to help identify the right hash.

Why this fixes it

• The persisted file under ~/.unity-mcp/ currently says 6402 for this project, and the code intentionally “sticks” to that. Removing the file resets the choice; the allocator tries 6400 first.
