For now, this will just be a list of ideas on how to handle some of the new stuff coming with the DLC.

GENERAL TO DO

• Make sure that confederations/defensive leagues properly get converted. They seem to be adding the ability to make custom confederation types, so the script likely needs to be changed slightly to account for this.
• Figure out how Hegemonies are being handled.
  • Hellenistic Empire could maybe be made as a custom hegemony title given its historical influence.
  • Should really large Great Powers be allowed to convert over as Hegemonies?
    • For reference, you need 500 territories to be a Great Power.
    • The Roman Empire around its peak (which includes things like Colchis, Mesopotamia, Armenia, Assyria, etc.) is 3400+ territories.
    • A united India is 825 territories.
    • A united China with approximate Song/Tang borders is almost 1000 territories.
  • Should we add something that makes hegemonies feel a little more different from empires?
    • In the base game, Rome is keeping the normal mechanics that trigger when you reform it (things like the "hard mode", Hellenic getting a special tenet, etc.), but Rome will likely exist at game start, so should be change this so it maybe triggers at/near game start if they are big enough, giving a reason to actually split the Empire (to remove "hard mode")?
    • Aside from Rome, I don't think there is any other content unique to Hegemonies (outside of the Dynastic Cycle for China).
    • One thing that comes to mind that could be added would maybe be mimicking how Rome spread Latin around Europe creating the Romance languages. Maybe dynamic hybrid cultures could be created randomly over time if a hegemony controls a region long enough. The cultures would hybridize the primary culture of the hegemony with the local cultures of the region creating "regional hybrid cultures" that have the heritage of the native culture but the language of the primary culture (like Gallo-Roman in Gaul, or Hispano-Roman in Iberia).

CHINA

DYNASTIC CYCLE/EMPEROR OF CHINA

• In Terra-Indomita, the Emperor of China is represented by having the Chinese Empire (chinese_empire) government. As such, that would be the main way to determine who starts as the Emperor in CK3. But, there are some issues that then need to be figured out:
  • Getting the Chinese Empire government:
    • In Terra-Indomita, the main way to get the Chinese Empire government is through its Chinese Unification mechanics. Chinese-cultured countries fight to conquer enough of the region to try and declare themselves Emperor. If one of the Chinese countries controls enough of the region, they can declare war on all of the remaining, non-vassal, Chinese countries to try and get the rest of the necessary land in one go. Once a Chinese country controls all of the necessary land (Northern China), they can take the "Unite China" decision which then gives them the Chinese Empire government, and makes it so this decision can never be taken again.
    • In addition to the above method, Qin (QIN), Zhou (ZHO), and Xiongnu (XNU) have special missions that allow them to get the Chinese Empire government outside of the normal unification mechanics. These missions also make it so the "Unite China" decision can't be taken once one of the missions is completed, but the missions are always available (as long as they completed the prerequisite missions), even if another Chinese Empire already exists. So, even if having more than 1 is likely very rare without player intervention, you could theoretically end up with up to 4 Chinese Empire countries through these methods that need to be considered.
  • What Dynastic Cycle Era should the game start off in?
    • Exactly what era the Cycle starts in will likely depend upon the circumstances of the Imperator game, so there are several cases to be considered:
      1. If there are NO Chinese Empires.
         • I feel this is the most likely to happen, since the AI might not always be capable of properly using the Chinese Unification mechanics. Or, a country did unify China, but got destroyed (the China mechanics don’t account for this in Terra-Indomita, so they are completely disabled even if the current “Emperor” is destroyed).
         • Should probably still start the Dynastic Cycle, just start it in the Chaotic Era so that any other relevant realms can naturally try forming China in CK3 through the intended mechanics.
      2. If there are MULTIPLE Chinese Empires.
         • Unlikely, but still possible. Will likely just need to do the same as above: set Cycle to Chaotic, let whoever conquers the area form China naturally. (Should we somehow give the realms that had the Chinese Empire government in Imperator a minor boost to recognize that they accomplished something in Imperator?)
         • OR, should one of them be chosen based off something like size or if they had the government the longest, make them the Emperor in CK3, give the other "Emperors" Celestial government, and just see what happens?
           • The main issue with this would be if a non-Chinese country (mainly Xiongnu) is one of the countries that has the Chinese Empire government. Will likely need to just set their government to Celestial and see if that allows them to properly form China.
      3. If there is only one Chinese Empire, and they are a Chinese culture, they should be made the “Emperor”. But, how do you determine what Dynastic Cycle phase they should start in?
         • They should only start in a stable (Advancement Era or Expansion Era) or unstable (Instability Era only, since Conquest Era is used for non-Chinese “Emperors”) era; not chaotic.
         • Should whether they start Stable vs Unstable depend on civil war progress? i.e. If progress is beyond a certain amount, Dynastic Cycle automatically starts in Instability Era. If low/no civil war progress, then one of the Stable Eras are chosen. Should it be chosen randomly if its an AI China, but if its a player give them an event to choose?
           • While looking through the save file, the easiest way to determine a country’s civil war progress (powerbase loyalty) would likely be to divide its total_power_base value into its non_loyal_power_base to get the disloyal powerbase percentage. If its above a certain amount, set it to have Instability Era. Otherwise, one of the stable phases.
      4. If there is only one Chinese Empire, and they are NOT a Chinese culture, they should be made the “Emperor”. But, what Dynastic Cycle phase should they start in?
         • In CK3, once a non-Chinese character gets the Hegemony of China title, they instantly get the Celestial government, and the Dynastic Cycle switches to the Conquest Era. From there, they can try stabilizing China, moving the Cycle to a Stable phase, where the Cycle then behaves like normal.
         • If the country in Imperator hasn’t had the Chinese Empire government for long, it would make sense to have them start in the Conquest Era. Unfortunately, the only way to track how a country’s government changes throughout the game is by looking at the list of their previous rulers.
           • In the save file, every country has parts labeled ruler_term which list the ruler(s) a country has had, when they became the ruler, and what government the country had at that time when they became the ruler. Using this, we can approximate how long a country has had a particular government since this isn’t tracked any other way.
             • For example, lets say in a particular save game the current date is 500.3.25 and the only country with the Chinese Empire government has had 5 rulers including the current one. When reading the save file for this country’s ruler_terms sections, none of the rulers, including the current one, started their reign with the Chinese Empire government. This tells us that the country adopted that government during the current ruler’s reign, so it wasn’t long since the country declared themselves “Emperor of China”, which would likely result in this save starting in the Conquest Era in CK3.
             • However, instead, lets say that when looking at the county’s rulers it shows that both the current ruler and the one just before him [Previous Ruler A] started their reigns with the Chinese Empire government, but the others had some other Monarchy government. This tells us that the country adopted the government during the reign of the ruler just before Previous Ruler A [Previous Ruler B]. If the Current Ruler started his reign on 496.1.1, Previous Ruler A started his reign on 480.2.1, and Previous Ruler B started his reign on 460.5.1, then that tells us that the country has had the Chinese Empire government for at least 20 years (480-500) since that is when it shows Previous Ruler A starting his reign with the government, but could have had it as long as 40 years (460-500) assuming Previous Ruler B switched to the government not long after his reign started. However, we have no way of knowing exactly when the country switched, all we know is that it had the government for anywhere from 20-40 years.
             • In these cases, where we don’t know exactly when the switch happened, we could maybe try taking the middle of the known range (in this example ~30 years) and say that the government started around that point. Then, if that is less than whatever limit we set, then we set the starting phase as Conquest. Otherwise, we need to decide whether it is Stable or Unstable (likely using a similar setup as previously mentioned above).
             • WE WILL NEED TO CONSIDER HOW MUCH TIME IS BEING SIMULATED IF THE CK3 START DATE IS FAR FROM THE IMPERATOR SAVE’S CURRENT DATE!!! If the start date set in the converter is close or the same as the save game date in Imperator, then there are no issues. But, if the date set in the converter is far from the save game date in Imperator, then some history is simulated (like how the converter creates successor characters so they don't start really old). If we decide to base the starting Cycle era off how long the country has had the government, this simulated time frame will need to be considered when determining the starting era.
      • As an extra, we could also maybe setup a converter setting that allows the user to force the Cycle to start in a certain era, or just let the converter handle determining the era based off something like what is mentioned above.

CULTURES

• As it is in the base game CK3, China will be represented by one large Han culture, but it seems like quite a few people in the dev diaries wanted this to be broken up more (it would also help with better mapping to EU4/EU5). As such, it should be considered whether to create new region-based Chinese cultures, like how its setup in the other Paradox games.
  • These region-based cultures could maybe just be made by using Han as a base and changing 1 or 2 traditions to give a little variety.
  • We will also need to consider how these region-based cultures would be mapped to.
    • For example, we could say ALL Chinese cultures in a particular region will map to its relevant region culture, which would make the game a bit more historical, but would then require us to have a fallback mapping for Chinese cultures outside of China, which would likely just end up being the base Han culture, which could lead to large Han blobs outside of China if they expand too much.
    • The alternative would be to instead map specific Imperator cultures to specific CK3 region cultures so that they always map to that (excluding things like the sinicized Baiyue/Dongyi/Bashu cultures described below). This would break up the blob a bit more, but could result in the regional cultures in ahistorical places.
    • We could also combine both of the above, map ALL Chinese cultures to the region culture based off where they are located in China, and use specific region cultures as fallbacks for outside of China so there's no huge Han blob.
• In Imperator, the closest thing to "Han" would be the Chinese culture group, which represents the Huaxia identity typically used before the Han identity emerged.
  • The Huaxia identity pretty much just included the cultures present in the Chinese culture group in Terra-Indomita. But the Han identity covers a bit more than this to also include peoples like the Sinicized Baiyue (Yue culture group), Dongyi (Yi culture group), and Bashu peoples. Although, the Han peoples living in the former Baiyue regions, for example, also seem to have a decent Northern Han genetic makeup due to the large migrations into the region coming from the Huaxia core regions. So, simply mapping these to their relevant Sinicized regional cultures might not make perfect sense.
    • As such, it might make more sense to make unsinicized/native cultures for the Baiyue, Dongyi, and Bashu peoples, and have them always convert to those. Then, have any of the Chinese/Huaxia cultures present in their relevant regions convert to their sinicized regional cultures. Relevant Issue: Petition to add Baiyue and Dongyi cultures #2759
      • For example, Chinese cultures present in the Fujian province (Fujian Kingdom title region) would map to Min Chinese.
      • How split up should the unsinicized/native cultures be? In Imperator, Dongyi is quite small, so they might not grow large without player intervention. But Baiyue and Bashu could potentially result in a large culture blob in CK3 if they map to a single culture.
• We could then maybe modify the “Sinicize Area” Great Project they are adding to account for the regional cultures and unsinicized cultures.
  • We could try modifying it in one of two ways: 1) Have the Great Project convert the area to a hybrid Sinicized culture (with Chinese Heritage?); 2) Have the Great Project give the culture in the area the new Sinophilic culture tradition.
    • Should it maybe do both, in steps? First, give the Sinophilic tradition to represent the culture beginning to adopt Chinese practices, then if the Great Project targets counties with cultures that already have the Sinophilic tradition, instead create a new hybrid culture with Chinese Heritage? If we do this, we could then maybe have the Sinophilic tradition be the condition that is set on whether a realm can adopt Meritocratic.
    • We could maybe also have something that allows a ruler of a non-Chinese, non-Sinophilic culture to willingly try Sinicizing their culture/region bringing themselves closer to China.
      • If they are the culture head, we could maybe just give the Sinophilic tradition to their culture, but if they aren’t we could maybe create a divergent culture that gets the Sinophilic tradition.
  • OR, should “Sinicize Area” give priority to converting regions to their historical Chinese regional cultures first, then worry about the about hybrid culture stuff if the region doesn’t have a historical regional Chinese culture?
    • For example, “Sinicize Area” around the Fujian Province will always convert the counties to Min Chinese, regardless of the cultures currently present there. But, since there is no historical Chinese regional culture for around the Island of Borneo, it instead goes through the above mentioned hybrid culture steps?
  • Should this Great Project also be how the de jure land of the Hegemony of China expands?
    • First, you must properly assimilate the people of the area into Chinese culture (have the region be of a culture with Chinese Heritage), then doing the Great Project again will finally de jure drift it to be under the Hegemony of China?
    • This could help slow down Chinese expansion as they’d only be able to assimilate and de jure drift regions that currently border the Hegemony, and it’d be more realistic.

RELIGIONS

• In both games, the region is very diverse religiously, and mappings may not be perfect. We will likely need to wait until the DLC comes out to know exactly what each new faith would best map to, but I tried grouping which new faiths might best match with the faiths present in Terra-Indomita below.
  • Imperator:
    • Ruism (Confucianism)
      • Daoxue is a known Confucian faith, possibly referring to Neo-Confucianism
    • Taoism
      • Zhengyi
      • Shangqing
    • Mohist
      • This school of thought likely wasn't practiced anymore in CK3's time frame, so it probably doesn't have a faith. Relevant issue: Mohism as its own CK3 faith #2675
    • Shenic (Chinese Folk Religion)
    • Baiyue (Native Baiyue Religion)
      • Likely won't have an overall equivalent faith made in CK3, but there is a faith called Mingist in the Fujian Province that might be a match, but need to see what its actually supposed to be since I can't find any historical religion/faith called Mingist.
      • Dab Qhuas (Hmong/Miao Folk Religion; At the start date in Imperator, most Miao pops are Baiyue, so Baiyue most likely represents their native religion in Imperator, so mapping to this faith if the culture is from the Miao culture group would likely make sense.)
    • Buddhism
      • Dhyana
      • Vinaya
      • Sukhavati
      • Yogacara
      • Avatamsaka
    • Vedic/Agamic (Hindu)
      • Pundarika
• Given how diverse faiths in the region are, setting up mappings, especially for things like Buddhism, might not be perfect because they would likely just result in chunks of faiths separated by regions, instead of the more diverse setup seen in the base game. Would it be worth looking into if the converter could be setup to allow multiple CK3 faiths to be set in one mapping and have it choose one of them randomly, allowing a more random setup throughout India/Asia?

GOVERNMENTS

• The main governments being added to CK3 with AUH that relate to China are Celestial, Meritocratic, and Meritocratic Khanate.
  • In the base game CK3, Celestial will mainly be reserved for the Emperor of China, but it looks like Chinese realms will be able to continue using this government in the Chaotic Era as they fight to reform China. I'm not sure if independent Chinese realms not under the Hegemony of China can have this government outside of the Chaotic Era, that will need to be tested.
    • I'm not sure how the Dynastic Cycle will behave if there are NO Celestial realms, given that they are built around each other. We might need to add a decision that allows it to be adopted if it seems to cause issues and the base game doesn't handle that.
    • POTENTIAL MAPPINGS:
      • Chinese Empire (chinese_empire) -> Celestial [Might need to have a separate game_start script that will convert countries from this to Meritocratic based off the starting Dynastic Cycle era if the they can't/shouldn't have it at that time]
      • Monarchies with Chinese primary culture -> Celestial [This would depend on whether Celestial realms can properly exist outside of the Hegemony of China outside of the Chaotic Era, will need testing]
  • The Meritocratic government is mainly for realms neighboring China that adopted some of the Chinese governing practices.
    • In the base game CK3, it sounds like Meritocratic will be adopted in place of Administrative if the realm is near China, likely through the "Adopt Centralized Administration" decision. Therefore, should mapping to it be on par with or easier than Administrative?
      • We currently only allow mapping to Administrative for countries with either the Empire or Imperial Cult government forms that map to kingdoms or empires since their Noble Family titles are duchy tier. But, it looks like the Family titles in Celestial/Meritocratic might be county tier, so should this be accounted for? (Need to see how lower tier realms would behave in the base game)
    • Realistically, it should only be used by realms that have actually been influenced by China. But Terra-Indomita doesn't have a way of properly reflecting this, so there might need to be some simplifications/assumptions when mapping.
      • If we wanted to simplify the mappings, and not consider whether a particular realm would actually have been "influenced"enough by China, then we could maybe map Imperator Monarchies to Meritocratic based off their culture or region (if the government mappings can't be setup to handle this, it could be handled through game_start script).
      • If we wanted to be more realistic with mappings, then we might need to just not allow mapping to Meritocratic, and instead create/modify a decision in the game to allow the government to be adopted in a more sensible way.
        • If we modify the "Sinicize Area" Great Project as mentioned above, we could maybe make it so that adopting the Meritocratic government requires your culture having either Chinese Heritage or the Sinophilic tradition.
    • POTENTIAL MAPPINGS:
      • Monarchies with Chinese primary culture -> Meritocratic [This would mainly need to be used if Celestial government isn't allowed outside of the Hegemony of China and Chaotic Era]
      • Monarchies with relevant culture/in relevant regions -> Meritocratic [This would mainly be if we want to simplify/force mappings to happen]
  • The Meritocratic Khanate government seems like it will be about Nomadic peoples beginning to adopt Chinese practices, like the Great Liao.
    • As such, we run into the same issues as Meritocratic with determining whether to simplify mappings to allow this government to be mapped to at game start regardless of whether a country would be sufficiently "influenced" by China, OR not allow it to be mapped to from Imperator and only allow it to be adopted in CK3 through decisions.

COUNTRY/TITLE MAPPINGS

• They changed the names of the base game titles in CK3, so there isn't much overlap name-wise. However, even if there was, technically the titles in CK3 wouldn't be the same exact titles represented in Imperator Rome, its just regions using their names. As such, I am not sure what title mappings should realistically be made.
• As for the Hegemony of China title, that should obviously go to whoever is selected to convert as the Emperor of China, so it probably shouldn't have a direct title mapping. This should probably be handled through script, output by the converter as it selects who should be the Emperor and what Era the Cycle is starting in.

KOREA

KOREAN UNIFICATION

• With AUH, the setup in Korea changes depending on whether you are starting in 867 or 1066/1178, as Korea is more split up in 867, but starts more unified in 1066/1178.
• In 867, Korea is split between the Silla, Baekje, and Goguryeo cultures, each with their own relevant kingdom titles. They can't form the Empire tier Korea title until the "Unite the Husamguk" decision is taken.
  • The decision requires you to have at least one of the Korean kingdom titles, have an administrative government (typically Meritocratic), and control the peninsula. It will give you the Unified Kingdom title (empire tier), a special Yongsun Throne title, and increase cultural acceptance with the other two Korean cultures (seemingly to later create a hybrid culture, but not sure how that’s going to work if they all have the same heritage).
  • The 1066/1178 start dates basically show what it'd be like if Goguryeo unified Korea, as it did historically, and the entire peninsula has the Goryeo culture, instead of being split up.
• When converting from Imperator, there are some things that need to be considered:
  • What if enough of the other Korean cultures get converted away in Imperator such that only 1 of Goguryeo/Baekje/Silla ends up existing at game start in CK3?
    • At this point, realistically, the decision wouldn't make sense. But, we could keep/modify the decision to ensure the special Korean content, like the Yongsun Throne title, is available.
  • The decision requires holding one of either the Silla, Baekje, or Goguryeo kingdom titles. But, it is obviously possible that those titles might not properly exist in a converted save. Some ways we could try fixing this include:
    • Change the decision to not require those titles (or find some way of changing the title(s) required dynamically, maybe similar to how the India formation decision was changed for the converter)
    • Setup new decisions that will allow those titles to be created by characters of their respective culture

CULTURES

• These mappings are setup assuming we won't be creating any new cultures. If we do decide to add new ones, obviously it will be different.
  • Huimo culture group -> Goguryeo
    • This would be the most likely to be split up so Goguryeo doesn't start so big compared to the other Korean cultures. The main other culture that could be mapped to would be Balhae, which is a hybrid of Goguryeo and Mohe, but that didn't form until almost the 8th century, so not sure.
  • Mahan -> Baekje
  • Jinhan + Byeohan -> Silla

RELIGIONS

• As with the other religion mappings for things like Buddhism, we could just map them based off regions (more or less how they will be defined here), or we could look into allowing multiple faiths to be mapped and having one chosen at random.
  • Muist -> Mu
  • Buddhism in Korea -> Vinaya ? (just based off the fact that its the main Buddhist faith shown in the region in CK3)
  • Hindu in Korea -> Pundarika ? (just based off the fact that its the main Hindu faith shown in the region in CK3)

GOVERNMENTS

• In base game CK3, Korea is Meritocratic, so we run into the issues discussed in the CHINA section. Need to figure out how we are handling Meritocratic's mappings.

COUNTRY/TITLE MAPPINGS

• None of the Kingdom+ titles being added in AUH seem like they'd really match the Imperator title, unless we wanted to do them by location, or to try and make sure that the base game titles are setup for the Korean Unification mechanics.

JAPAN

CULTURES

• In AUH, the Japanese cultures are represented by a single Yamato culture, while in the other Paradox games, this is typically split up a bit based off regions. Should we add the other regional cultures for Japanese mappings, which would make mapping to EU4/EU5 a bit easier, but might required us to slightly modify some of the new culture traditions that make Yamato characters less likely to marry outside their culture, OR just map everything to Yamato and simplify things?
  • Yayoi culture group -> Yamato (unless we decide to split it up)
    • The exception might be the Jomon culture, a special culture in the Yayoi culture group that represents a hybrid between the Yayoi and Jomon culture groups. It is only available if a Jomon culture group country forms the tag Jomon (AIU) and completes its special mission that allows it to adopt the Yamato Empire and get the special Jomon-Yayoi "hybrid" culture. Should this be mapped to Yamato, Emishi, or a new custom culture?
      • If we don't want to create a new culture and worry about its mappings to EU4/EU5, we could maybe just create a hybrid culture creation name and at game start, if Jomon exists, have it automatically create a hybrid between Emishi and Yamato, and make sure all Emishi and/or Yamato counties/characters in Jomon are converted to that new Jomon culture. Even if the creation name isn't used at game start, it'd still be available for later.
    • Nansei, which is in the Yayoi culture group, seems like it might represent a hybrid between Ryukyuan and Yamato/Japanese. It is available to Duuchuu (Jomon) tags that complete a special mission which will allow them to adopt the culture or just convert Kumaso (Yayoi) pops to Nansei, OR if a Kumaso tag forms the Nanto (NNS) tag which requires them to control Ryukyu.
  • Ezo -> Ainu
  • Duuchuu + Yaeyama -> Ryukyuan
  • Rest of Jomon culture group -> Emishi
    • The culture Jeulmeun is in the Jomon culture group, and is only available if a Jomon country forms the Jomon tag and completes one of their special missions that requires them to control southern Korea, which will form the Jeulmeun tag (JLN) and convert every pop in that area to be Jeulmeun and Fuchite. Not sure if this should just be mapped to Emishi, or give it a special culture.
      • If we don't want to create a new culture and worry about its mappings to EU4/EU5, we could maybe just create a hybrid culture creation name and at game start, if Jeulmeun exists, have it automatically create a hybrid between Emishi and one of the south Korean cultures, and make sure all Emishi counties/characters in Jeulmeun are converted to that new Jeulmeun culture. Even if the creation name isn't used at game start, it'd still be available for later.

RELIGIONS

• Just like the rest of Asia, Japan is very diverse religiously in CK3, so mappings may not get results like the base game.
  • Fuchite -> Kamuyist (Emishi/Ainu)
  • Unaric -> Utaki (Ryukyuan)
  • Kodo -> Shinto
    • In CK3, there are two faiths we know of so far in the Shinto Religion: Shinto and Shugendo.
    • Imperator's Kodo most likely matches CK3's Shinto, and I suspect that its supposed to represent pure Shintoism.
    • Shugendo, historically, seems to be a syncretic faith mixing Buddhism, Shintoism, Taoism, and other folk religions. I think this matches a bit closer to what Shinto in EU4/EU5 represents, as both have a Buddhist influence.
    • Historically, it seems like Buddhism didn't really begin spreading throughout Japan until at least the 5-7th century, so that brings up the question on what to do if Buddhism never spreads throughout Japan in a converted save, especially when converting to EU4/EU5?
      • We could maybe add events/decisions that make Shugendo start appearing once Buddhism somehow appears in Japan or they interact with Buddhist characters/realms.
      • But, what should be done about Buddhism mappings if its already in Japan in Imperator? Should it be random and risk not having Shugendo appear, or try and give priority to Shugendo?
      • This is more for the EU4/EU5 converters, but should pure Shinto in CK3 be treated the same as Shugendo/Shinbutsu in terms of mappings to simplify things, or should they get their own custom religions to represent Shinto without Buddhist influence?

GOVERNMENTS

• The main special government to consider is Japan's Ritsuryo/Soryo governments.
  • Soryo represents the "feudalization" that happened later, so we probably shouldn't map to that, just Ritsuryo.
  • Terra-Indomita has a special Yamato Empire government that likely represents the same thing as Ritsuryo, so that should always map to it, but it might need to be limited to empires only depending on how the government works.
    • The only ways to get this government are by being the Yamato (YMT) tag and completing their special mission to conquer all of Japan; OR, be a Jomon country, form the Jomon tag, and complete their special mission about controlling Japan.
  • The mechanics of the government seem like it relies on certain titles, mainly the Japan empire title and the Chrysanthemum Throne kingdom title, so Japan can likely only use this government as an empire.
  • But, Jomon can also get the Yamato Empire government in Imperator, giving a theoretical case where the Emishi will end up with this government, so some adjustments will likely need to be made to account for this.
    • While we could just have Jomon use the Japan empire and Chrysanthemum Throne titles, if a Japanese realm ends up adopting the government, it'd make more sense to have them use these titles. So, should Emishi equivalents be made for them to also account for the rare chance both Yamato and Jomon get the government?
  • We should probably make a custom decision (if they already don't have one as a fallback) that will allow this government to be adopted during the game. This is especially important since Yamato is the only Yayoi tag in Imperator that actually has the special missions, and I've seen them get conquered pretty easily, so it is likely no one will get the Yamato Empire government.

COUNTRY/TITLE MAPPINGS

• The main 1-1 mapping I can think of would be Yamato to the Kingdom of Yamato.
  • Should it also be mapped to the Empire of Japan? Should all Yayoi tags at game start be mapped fo Empire of Japan, or just make a decision in CK3 that allows it to be formed and gives Ritsuryo government?
• I think I read something about a Ryukyu Kingdom title in AUH, and it is a formable in Terra-Indomita, but it requires also owning Taiwan and some of Japan, so not 100% certain.

RELIGIONS

• As with the other regions, mappings for things like Buddhism might not be perfect, so we need to figure out how we are handling that.
• We also run into the issue of off-map faiths like Buddhism in CK3. Because CK3 will cover a larger area than what's covered in Terra-Indomita, and especially for conversions from normal Invictus, we need to figure out how we are handling the various Buddhist/Hindu/etc faiths that exist on the CK3 map that are out of scope of Terra-Indomita, since the converter will default those counties to use the base game faiths unless we set something else up.
  • For the islands in Southeast Asia, Terra-Indomita covers most of the northern Philippines and northern Sumatra. The rest is more or less covered by a single Impassable Terrain province.
  • We could get around this by either:
    • Setting up the converter so the out of scope regions are mapped to the Impassable Terrain and make sure that the culture/faith mappings are properly setup so that each region ends up with the correct culture/faith, like what was originally done for Finland.
      • This would offer less flexibility on the off chance we want the regions to occasionally start with some Buddhist faiths, but would ensure the mappings only ever get loaded when they are actually needed.
    • Handle this through game_start on_actions. This would allow us to check whatever conditions we want at game start and setup the out of scope regions exactly how we want them.
      • i.e. If there are no Buddhist locations/tags anywhere near the out of scope region in Imperator, realistically there likely shouldn't be any Buddhist counties in Java in CK3, for example. But, if Buddhism spreads a little around northern Sumatra but not the northern Philippines in Imperator, then it would make sense to maybe have some Buddhism start in Java, but not the southern Philippines.
  • For reference, here are the likely out of scope indigenous faiths present in AUH:
    • Kaharingan (Island of Borneo + Northern Sulawesi)
    • Dayawist (Philippines)
    • Aluk (Middle Sulawesi)
    • Tolotang (Southern Sulawesi + Papua + Halmahera)
    • Hantuist (Timor + Flores + Southern Sumatra)
      • In CK3, it seems like Hantuist might be used as a catch-all/fallback for shamanistic faiths in the region as it appears all over from Formosa/Taiwan, to Sumatra, to Timor/Flores. Places like Java don't seem to have an indigenous faith made for them, making Hantuist the likely fallback for those regions. Not sure if custom faiths should be made for them to break it up a bit.

• Nanyue (NAN) as an empire -> Empire of Yue ? (Empire of Yue is more of a regional name, but it likely got the name from the Yue realms, and Nanyue historically covered same region as Yue Empire)
• Lamap (LAM) as a kingdom -> Kingdom of Champa ? (Lamap is said to be a predecessor to Champa, but the exact relation between the two - i.e. whether Lamap merged/turned into Champa - seems to be unknown, so not sure)
