Would be nice to know what type of errors you get with this code but i can see few issues here:

1. using splice in loop is big NO NO.. splice modifies original array.
2. you have missing ")" arr.push( input[i].substring( 0, input[i].indexOf( markers[0] ) ) here
3. "i" stays at 0 all the time.
