Promtail deprecation

Given promtail will be EoL next year, what is the plan for this lambda function? Will there be a lambda-alloy?

If your are a user of Grafana Cloud I recommend using AWS Firehose to ingest logs. Otherwise we will continue support lambda-promtail as good as we* can.

Hey, I came here with a similar question to @edjshelton . I'm not a user of Grafana Cloud and also not a current user of lambda-promtail, but we use Loki and are looking to migrate to Alloy or another log collector.

So in this case, it sounds like this Lambda function isn't going to be supported by Grafana themselves and any updates to use Alloy would need to be driven by the community?

This Lambda function and Alloy are two different things 🙂 Alloy is fully supported by Grafana. It provides an AWS Data Firehose logs receiver which is very similar to our hosted receiver. If you plan to host Alloy this is the way to go.

If you do not want to host Alloy I would recommend using the Lambda Promtail function from this repository. However, we won't be adding new features unless provided by the community.
