how can i work with yaml like below?

yaml example

need to edit value of the key permanentURLs

modules:
  ../out/webhooks/index.js:
    type: out
    config:
      permanentURLs: []

is it possible to select key and edit value ( eg permanentURLs) without passing full yml path?
other words find the key and update it's value by supplying key name only

Yep,

I don't have yq on the machine I'm on right now, but the syntax will look something like:

yq '(.. | select(key == "permanentURLs)) = ["cat"]'

Explanation:

• .. matches all nodes
• then we only select the nodes that have a key "permanentURLS"
• and set that to cat

I manage to do like this

yq e -i '.modules["../out/webhooks/index.js"].config.permanentURLs[0].url = "MY_HOOK_URL"' file.yml

looks like select does not work with edit, i could only get value correctly
