clean up release workflow with branches/PR's to main

We need to check the release process and clean up the workflows. 

When I create a branch/PR the images, the CI runs, but this also releases the images. And when I merge my branch to main, the ci with release is run again.

Deploy is run once a day to deploy / reset the demo instances. 

but ci.yml also has a cron set to run at every 2 hours.  !?!?  Why?
